Lana Ryder
Lana Ryder has been sharing the healing power of sound, voice and music in one form or another for fifty years, which began with the use of her voice as a healing instrument in music ministry as soloist and Worship Director. Well-known throughout the local area as a sound therapy educator, mentor (affectionately called “Sound Mama”), and practitioner, her education has been ongoing in classes with Mitch Nur, Alexandre Tannous, Mike Tamburo, Martin Bläse, Thomas Orr Anderson, Rich Goodhart, Chloe Goodchild, and many others. Initially attending lectures by Mitch Gaynor, MD in 1999 while she was Clinical Coordinator of Massage and Body Therapies at WellSpan’s Center for Mind Body Health, Lana was inspired to further study the benefits of sound therapy. After 25 years in traditional allopathic medicine, she has spent the next 30 years in holistic practice as a Usui Reiki teacher for 17 years, certified holistic health coach since 2011, taught holistic business practice, continuing education and seated massage for eleven years at both the Baltimore School of Massage and the Lancaster School of Massage. She has developed a variety of innovative ways to work with sound integratively in energy healing and bodywork, including Reiki-Sound, Reiki-Voice, Sonic Massage, Sound Wise Voice, Introduction to the Fundamentals of the Art and Science of Sound Healing, all manuals and curriculum. She is a former board member of The Interdisciplinary Society for Quantitative Research in Music and Medicine, and former assistant voice teacher. She has written a number of articles on therapeutic sound for local magazines and newspapers. Lana currently offers sound presentations to numerous patient support groups through local hospitals, hospice and healthcare venues. After teaching many individuals and small groups of students through the years, she is currently Founding Director and Senior Instructor of Soundwise School of Harmonic Therapy in Lancaster, Pa. since 2021.
