Become a healthy rebel

Being a Healthy Person in an Unhealthy World

One of the first things I strive to clarify with our clients is that Western society does not foster healthy lifestyle standards. We are conditioned to equate "busyness" with success, wearing burnout as a badge of honor. Moreover, we are not encouraged to take adequate vacation time to rest our bodies and minds.

We are often presented with weight management solutions in the form of pills, which are rarely effective. Even when they do work, they are not sustainable and often come with numerous side effects.

When we shop, we encounter hundreds of products, from sugar-laden cereals to toxic cleaning supplies, all of which we should avoid. Fast food, like a burger and fries, is cheaper and seems more convenient, but preparing a healthier, plant-based meal is simpler than many realize.

These are just a few examples of how our society fails to prioritize health, but I'm sure you can think of many more. Once you acknowledge that our culture doesn't align with how we should care for our body, mind, and spirit, the next step is to become a health rebel and prioritize your true needs, even when it's not convenient.

The good news is that as health coaching and integrative medicine gain popularity, these healthy changes are becoming more accepted in our society. Major companies are starting to offer stress-relief opportunities, such as meditation time and gym membership reimbursements. We see more plant-based products in the market, even in fast food restaurants. Practices like yoga, acupuncture, meditation, and mindfulness are becoming mainstream, providing new ways to handle inevitable stressors.

Rethink medicine

Learn to Think Beyond Traditional Healthcare

If you're new to health coaching, you might wonder how it differs from the care you receive at a typical doctor's office. Here's the distinction:

When you visit a doctor, you usually get five to 15 minutes of face time with the physician or nurse practitioner. If you have a specific complaint, the medication prescribed typically addresses the symptoms, not the root cause.

In contrast, when you see a Health Coach, expect to answer questions about every aspect of your life, not just your pains and symptoms. If you have a specific complaint, a Health Coach focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause while also treating the symptoms.

For instance, if you have back pain, a regular doctor might prescribe pain medication. A Health Coach, however, might recommend stretches to relieve pain and evaluate your diet for foods that could be causing inflammation.

This holistic approach to healthcare emphasizes preventive care. The integrative health care practiced by Health Coaches can be challenging to understand, especially if you've only experienced traditional doctor visits.

Tap into the power of your mind

Discover the Power of Mindfulness

With the right intentions, you can harness your mind as a tool to achieve remarkable things. Think about how one negative event can ruin an otherwise wonderful day. What if you could prevent that and confront the negativity that tries to disrupt your day? With mindfulness, you can.

As Health Coaches, we understand that mental health is just as important as physical health, and the two are deeply interconnected. From our experience, practicing mindfulness can transform both your body and mind.

We help clients like you explore empathy, incorporate more gratitude into their lives, and find strategies that make mindful thinking feel natural. Even the most pessimistic person can discover positivity through mindfulness. Let's schedule a time to talk and explore how practicing mindfulness can benefit you.

Recreate your plate

Rebuild Your Relationship With Food

If you are what you eat, then you can be what you choose. As Health Coaches, our goal is to help our clients—and the world at large—understand the fundamental truth that what you choose to put on your plate directly impacts your physical health, energy levels, and mood.

Consuming foods that do not nourish and support your biological needs can negatively affect how you interact with others, navigate your day, and pursue your goals. When your diet is out of balance, it disrupts your overall well-being and productivity.

Although it might seem like a foreign concept, there is ample evidence showing that changing the food you eat can genuinely transform your life. By choosing nourishing, wholesome foods, you can enhance your vitality, improve your mental clarity, and boost your emotional well-being.

We aim to empower you with the knowledge and tools to make informed dietary choices that align with your health goals. Imagine how different your life could be with more energy, better mood stability, and improved overall health simply by making mindful food choices. This transformation is within your reach, and we're here to guide you every step of the way.

Beyond diet and exercise

How Are Your Primary Foods?

Primary foods don't refer to what's on our plate. Instead, this concept encompasses the other aspects of our life that feed, nourish, and satisfy us. From the relationships we maintain to the careers we pursue, these alternate forms of energy are essential to our well-being.

They give us feelings of love, worth, and intimacy. They provide us with the serotonin, dopamine, and other chemicals we need to feel happy and fulfilled. They motivate us to set goals, aspire to great things, and reach our full potential as human beings.

Unfortunately, primary food deficiencies are incredibly common. Let’s work together to identify how you’re getting your primary foods, where you’re lacking, and how you can incorporate more of that good energy into your life. By addressing these essential aspects, we can enhance your overall well-being and help you achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.

You deserve this

Find Happiness

Happiness is a complex and elusive goal. Everyone seeks it, but there's no single path to achieving it. Even when you do everything "right," you may still find yourself feeling unfulfilled.

When we work with clients, our goal is to help them examine how each aspect of their life either contributes to or detracts from their happiness. Sometimes, the key to feeling happier lies in unexpected places.

For instance, did you know that a majority of your serotonin, a key neurotransmitter affecting mood, is found in your gut? If your diet is unbalanced or includes foods to which you have sensitivities, it can significantly impact your overall mood and well-being.

This connection between diet and mood is well-known among health coaches but not as widely recognized by the general public. Was this new information for you?

As Health Coaches, our role is to help you understand more about how your body works, so you can feel confident in providing for its needs. We explore various factors—from nutrition to lifestyle choices—that influence your happiness. By gaining insight into these areas, you can make informed decisions that enhance your overall well-being.

Move your own way

Make Physical Activity A Daily Habit

A gym membership isn’t for everyone, so don’t feel ashamed if it’s not your thing! While physical exercise is crucial for our health, it’s equally important to find a form of movement that you genuinely enjoy and benefit from. If you’re forcing yourself to run on the treadmill, attend a spin class, or do push-ups in your room without any enjoyment, it might be time to try something different.

Just because your sister loves hot yoga or your best friend loves mountain biking doesn’t mean those activities will work for you. The good news is that there are hundreds of ways to get your heart rate up, and sometimes all you need is a little encouragement or some additional information.

If you’ve ever thought, “exercise isn’t for me,” it’s likely that you just haven’t found the right type of exercise yet. Remember, exercise doesn’t need to involve buckets of sweat, hours of time, or fancy equipment—it just has to get you moving and make you feel good.

If you’re searching for a fitness routine that excites you, let’s talk! Together, we can explore different options and find an activity that fits your lifestyle and makes you look forward to moving.

Thank you for joining us on this exploration of holistic health and wellness. We hope our insights have inspired you to rethink traditional approaches to health and embrace a more integrative perspective. Remember, the path to well-being is unique for each individual—there is no one-size-fits-all solution. By understanding your body's needs and finding joy in your wellness practices, you can achieve a balanced and fulfilling life. If you’re ready to take the next step, whether it’s adopting mindfulness, discovering a nourishing diet, or finding an exercise routine you love, we’re here to support you.

Let's schedule a time to chat and explore how we can collaborate on a plan to help you feel better. Your well-being is important, and together, we can work towards finding strategies and solutions that align with your needs and goals.
